Jimmy Sekasi Institute of Catering has a number of short courses whose main focus is hands-on- training and imparting of skills. Requirements for enrolling in one of our short course programs is the ability to speak, write and understand English for all instruction is in English.
 
1. Basic Certificate in Food & Beverages (FBSB)

This course equips the candidate with skills on how to handle basic food and beverage operations, 80% of this course is Hands-on-training. The following modules are covered:-
  • Introduction to Hospitality and Catering
  • Food service

  • Cookery
  • Business English and Communication
2. Professional Cookery and Baking (PCB)
This course equips the participants with operational skills in Cookery and Bakery and participants after the course are able to run their own small establishments or homes.

This course is suitable for those who want to improve on their skills and especially working class, married women, people working in Home and embassies. The delivery is 90% Practical Exposure. The modules covered:-

  • Rice and Pasta Dishes
  • Meat dishes (Beef, Goat, Pork, Lamb)
  • Poultry dishes
  • Potato dishes
  • Vegetable dishes
  • Cake Making

  • Pastries and Confectionary items
3. Pastry, Baking and Cake Decoration (PBC)
This course equips the participants with operational skills in Pastry and Bakery and Cake Decorating techniques, participants after the course are able to run their own small establishments or homes.

This course is suitable for those who want to improve on their skills in Pastry, Baking and Cake decorating. Working class married women, people working at Home and in Embassies. The delivery is 90% Practical Exposure. The modules covered:-

  • Pastes.
  • Cake making.
  • Cake Decoration.
  • Cake writing skills.
  • Functional Cake Making.
  • Bread Making.
Information and Communication Technology (ICT)
